Fish Sauce Dip Recipe ( Nuoc Mam Cham )

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Cup Warm Water
  • 1/3 Cup Sugar
  • 1/3 Cup Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice Equals 3 whole limes
  • 1/3 Cup Fish Sauce
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Minced Garlic
  • 2 Fresh Thai Chilis Finely Minced
  • 1 Teaspoon Chili Paste
  • A Handful Of Pickled Daikons & Carrots Optional

Instructions
 

  • Pour the warm water into a bowl.
  • Add in the sugar and stir to dissolve.
  • Then add in the freshly squeezed lime juice.
  • And the fish sauce.
  • And the minced garlic.
  • Also add in the minced Thai chilis and 1/2 a teaspoon of Ground Fresh Chili Paste . Adding the ground fresh chili paste is optional. I like to add it for some color and additional heat.
  • Stir to combine. You can stop here or go on to the next step which is optional .
  • Add a handful of pickled daikons & carrots (optional) . Stir to combine.
  • Cover and let sit on the counter or in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving to allow all the flavors to meld.

Notes

If you do not have any fresh limes on hand you can substitute with white vinegar or rice vinegar. If any substitutions are made then  you will need to slightly adjust the recipe by perhaps adding in more sugar, fish sauce, or water.
